Only booked for one night, expecting to enjoy the hot tub. Unfortunately it was entirely unusable as it was stuck at 88° and somehow the controls were locked. So that was the worst part. They said they would send someone first thing in the morning to remedy it but then I just never heard back from them.
Also, it’s worth noting that the “private” deck is pretty close to neighbors so it may feel not so private if you actually get a chance to hot tub. I have a reactive dog so things like that are helpful to know in advance.
Otherwise, the kitchen was fairly well stocked (better quality dishes/cookware than most airbnbs I’ve stayed in). The water is extremely sulfuric- hard to ignore if you’re not used to it. Recommend picking up some drinking water from the store nearby. Water pressure is good, though the shower is frustrating to operate. The “bedroom” is more of a room-bed (takes up the entire space and room has no door), and very firm. Early check-out time is eased by no list of tasks
Pros: River front, great deck, cozy. Fairly comfy bed. Easy to find. Easy flat parking right off of Lolo. Felt private even though it was close to other cabins and Lolo. Very easy to find, well marked. Hosts were communicative and helpful. Hot tub seemed well taken care of.
Cons: well water had sulphur smell but not terrible. Close to major road so keep pets on leash. To get to the river you have to cross in the “front yard” of other cabins - these are also rentals so it’s not exactly private, but still felt like we were in someone else’s space. There is a small table to eat at but not really big enough for a meal, we ate on the deck and on the couch.
We absolutely loved our stay at Cabin 1! Went up for two nights to connect, cook, and ride at Timberline. Location, space, and amenities were great for 3 adults and a little dog 🐕
Unfortunately it's next to a busy road that you can hear over the river sound. Pics are deceiving of river that's actually below property's hill with no way to get to it except go thru another's yard. The "beach" isn't next to the river so we had to go elsewhere to enjoy the water with our pups. The Sulphur smell of the house water is horrible. We had to buy extra bottled water to bathe with. One point we didn't have water pressure to flush or wash dishes with. We were told that happens & water will be back within 2 hours. What? Kitchen supplies were very limited. 1 big metal outdoor spatula, 1 big metal outdoor tongs for indoor use for pans that need rubber or wooden utensils. There is a dead animal smell by the back deck. House was clean & we appreciated the A/C. The river view is great! Probably a great winter time place for skiers.
We had a wonderful week at this cozy cabin. Our kids (12yo and 9yo) stayed with us the first few nights and then went off to summer camp. So it was just us and the dogs. It was a little tight with the 4 of us but the kids said the couch bed was comfortable and they loved the hot tub.
The river is absolutely gorgeous. Loved sitting out in the yard watching it, and being able to hear it from the bedroom. When we stayed the river was pretty high and moving rather fast so it wasn’t safe for the kids or dogs to play in (in my opinion).
The cabin was super clean and had everything we needed. They even had dog bowls and a long leash tied to the porch.
There is a good size yard that the dogs could play in.
The hot water does have a small sulfur smell to it but after it is run for a little while it goes away or you just get used to it so wasn’t bad at all.
Overall, we had a wonderful and peaceful time and would definitely stay again.
Had a fabulous cozy rainy weekend at this cabin! It was perfect and everything you need for a couples getaway and a quick hour and change drive from Portland. We will definitely be back for ski season!
This cabin was smaller than it appeared in the photos but it was perfect for the two of us. The hot tub was PERFECT! The view of the river was serene. This is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Host communication was clear and very responsive when needed.
My now husband and I recently got married and didn’t have a honeymoon planned. We live an hour away from the cute bungalow and stayed for three days. It was a perfect getaway after our wedding. We also got to bring our dog along which really meant a lot! Thank you so much for having us and making our stay so peaceful :)
Perfect riverside retreat
My husband and I stayed at the property for 2 days and nights to rest and relax. The house is perfect! We enjoyed sitting by the water and listening to the sounds of nature. We used the hot tub both nights and had a gorgeous view of the night sky. It was everything we were looking for and more!
Overall a very beautiful location and quaint house to stay in and positive experience. The house was as described, easy to get to location, and easy entrance. The surrounding area was really stunning and the sound of the river was tranquil. It was a nice sound to hear at night. This is a great house for a couple of people to enjoy the mountain, with close access to areas up the mountain. Highly recommend Thai Up the Mountain for excellent Thai food.
Only consideration I would make when choosing this place again is how secluded you hope to be. The listing notes 'other houses nearby,' which I think is an understatement. If you're looking to run into others staying on the same lot and perhaps have conversations (there's a shared fire in front of the river), this is your place. The hot tub, as an example, is located exactly in front of the kitchen of one of the other houses and so I would say a couple wanting to escape for a private retreat should look for a cabin elsewhere.
Great place for us to stay. Beautiful scenery. Fire pit and hot tub was amazing to enjoy. The kitchen was full of stuff for us to use. Restaurants and hiking near by.
I would definitely come back.
We had a lovely stay in this quaint getaway. We spent hours sitting by the river, enjoying nearby hikes (Lost Creek Trail!)and nearby dining. Will definitely come back.
Pleasant stay close to lots of sites on Mt. Hood. Comfortable bed and lovely hot tub after days on the trail. Nice to have a full kitchen and fridge. Water smells as strong as described. Didn't bother us, but might be off-putting to others. The noise from the traffic was noticeable but not bothersome.
Lovely cabin next to a little river. Super peaceful. Hot tub on the patio was perfect for after a day of hiking. Loads of hikes in the area - we did Ramona falls, just up the road. Full kitchen set up so we cooked our own meals - everything we needed for that. Hot water smells a little like sulphur but great for the skin. Would definitely recommend this place.
Wow! I just spent 4 days here with my friend and we really enjoyed our time, and would definitely come back for more! The river was flowing nicely so the soundtrack and scenery were amazing. It was so nice to wake up and have coffee by the river, and also to end the day in the hot tub. Our expectations were set based on the accurate photos, description and the reviews. Plenty to do around the area - we got our coffee at Fernie’s, cooked at home, explored Trillium Lake, Timberline Lodge, Govt Camp, Mt Hood Village, and even drove 1h45m to Smith Rock one day for some of the desert vibes. Portland is just over an hour away too. Really such a great spot!
This cozy cabin on the banks of the Zig Zag River was just the getaway we needed. The peaceful setting and babbling of the river set our minds at ease. We took a day trip up to Mt Hood and hiked around several beautiful lakes and explored the Timberline Lodge, the setting for the movie “The Shining”. We used the grill for a meal around the fire pit and found the kitchen stocked with all the spices we needed to make a great supper. We ended the day with s’mores and a soak in the hot tub. I highly recommend this cabin and the ones around it for a lovely retreat.
Cute, cozy little cabin with hot tub and wood stove. Just what we were looking for. Really easy place to relax. Great location that’s close to outdoor activities and local businesses. Didn’t notice any smells with the water like others have.
Beautiful quiet location close to so many outdoor activities. The backyard ends right at an amazing river view!
My daughters and I stayed for the weekend and had a great time. It is very homey and quiet.
Thank you for a great birthday getaway!
We loved our stay at this cozy riverside cabin. The fire pit right by the river was peaceful, and the hot tub stayed hot for hours — we even watched shooting stars. Inside, the rustic vibe was perfect. The bedroom was cozy, but once we found the pull-out couch, we spent the rest of our time there watching movies by the fire stove, which became our favorite spot. The cabin felt private overall, though a little more screening from the neighbors would be nice. There was a helpful book with local info, and Rendezvous Grill was the best restaurant we tried. The number listed for firewood isn’t delivering anymore, so grab wood from the hardware store down the road. We’d definitely come back!
Birthday getaway
Very clean, cozy and all around great experience
It really takes a bad series of events for me to write a negative review. We got there and the door code was wrong. No cell service in that area so had to drive back to the highway to communicate. Got settled...and the WiFi was not working (for our anniversary trip where my wife was going to have to use WiFi to do some work. Tried modem and all. Eventually owner told me that the signal was out and that in a few days someone would be coming to fix it. All of the communication had to come on my end from that... Still not sure if they knew about it before we arrived? I'm sure that the owners will tell you that they tried to work with us and get us a different place for the second night. Again, most of the communication coming from me. They didn't answer on Saturday morning (we arrived Friday) after I messaged twice in 4 hours and sat out on the HWY again. "No refunds unless no heat, H2O". Hot water smelled like septic system. It's really a "personal" deck, not a "private" one.
Cozy. Great views with hot tub. Stayed for 1 night. Short drive to Mt Hood Meadows. Larger airbnb for bigger groups / longer stays next door with similar hot tub and river views, but far enough away where noise isn’t issue.
This was such a lovely little hideaway for a quick trip out from Portland! We loved sitting out and watching the river. Seeing the night sky away from all the light pollution was beautiful too!
Great lil Bungalow
We loved staying here & will definitely be back! The host was super helpful & responded quick
This cabin was the perfect retreat for a weekend near Mt. Hood. We loved having the river right outside, especially while relaxing in the hot tub. Bathroom and kitchen were both well stocked. Host was easy to communicate with.
Very clean place. Good and relaxing water view. Will go back again.
The cabin and Cascade company was terrific. They always responded very quickly if I had a question or comment. The cabin was exactly like the photos and very cozy. If you are looking for seclusion or private this will not be the place. I thought it was a private cabin, but there are multiple cabins very close together. I should of asked before. Overall though wonderful experience and a great host.
A cozy, comfortable cabin in a great location.
Great place
The place was exactly what we were looking for. The wood fire heater and hot were a major plus! Can’t wait to stay again
I love this spot, second time staying here. Everything looked great on our arrival and we were so excited about the hot tub it was the first thing we did. It gets cold at night in winter but the stove and fire transformed the space and kept us warm all night. Def will come back again!
Great communication with the hosts and such a great location! Big hot tub that overlooks the water. Will come back!
The HOT TUB was spectacular. would have been better if it was private, as all the neighbors 10-20 ft on either side of you can see you. was NEVER told ppl would be that close. I thought this would be a at least a 1 bedroom full size cabin out in the woods with privacy. NO. There's no closet, you can't get in on either side of the bed, as it isn't an official bedroom it's basically a closet you sleep in. there's a closet in the living room, which we ended up sleeping on so we could get out of bed on either side, but, was very uncomfortable to sleep on the couch bed. It's RIGHT off the road with CONSTANT traffic and very loud road noise. they didn't tell us until the day of that we have ppl RIGHT next to us and basically told me it was too late to get a refund, but, I could put in a dispute. I don't recommend this place unless you're ok with a tiny shack no\nprivacy, and only go for the river view and hot tub. but even that wasn't worth what we paid. wasted our money. Very misleading:(
Nice small cabin right on the river with very nice hot tub
The team was very friendly and made communicating with them a great experience!
This was a quaint, cozy place to stay.
The good:
Location by zig zag, hot tub*, owls flying overhead, wood stove inside, nice new kitchen. Easy to text the managers about things that came up and got quick responses.
The less good:
The shower, when on, smells very strongly of sulfur. We imagine this is an issue with the water heater needing cleaned or replaced, but it's hard to know. And, it's such a small space, that the smell of sulfur sort of just stayed around. This really put a damper on our trip. The company heard our concerns and committed to giving it a solid inspection after our check out. If I were going to rent it next, I'd double check about this issue.
Great property in a secluded area. Ambiance was perfect and just what we were looking for
Positive: Loved the creek sounds and the hot tub
Negative: The water smell almost made me sick. I would not return just based on the water no
Was a nice cozy place!
Enjoyable trip but misrepresented home.
Pic's and descriptions are technically accurate but rather misleading. The bedroom is so small that one has to crawl across the bed to get in. No room to walk on either side. Hot tub lock code had been changed from what we'd been told. Fortunately they remedied that immediately. Listed as "beach" but all we had was an enbankment that you could clamor down to rocks. Enjoyed our time none the less.
It was a great stay. Nice and cozy and peaceful. Check in was smooth and uncomplicated. Thanks!!
Cute little bungalow in an amazing riverside location! It had everything that we were looking for for a weekend getaway. And the property manager was very responsive and helpful.
We had a wonderful stay—such a peaceful retreat right by the river. The sound of the water and the setting made it feel like a true escape. The hot tub was a perfect touch, especially in the evenings. While the space is cozy and thoughtfully appointed, it is on the smaller side, so just something to be aware of depending on what you're looking for. All in all, a lovely getaway spot!
The listing was very accurate and even more beautiful in person! The hot tub with the river view was excellent. Just what I was looking for and more! So many nice amenities and extras this listing offered. I would 100% recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation. Plus the hosts were very helpful and reliable!
Cramped for when it rains
It rained all during our stay, which gave us little to do besides reading and tv. The property would benefit from an awning or tarp to cover the patio which would have made our stay kinda perfect, despite the rain.
Must say no dryer in description
One must at the cabin is a dryer. You needs to invest in that. We can hand wash clothes and dishes, but a dryer is an absolute must and you have a spot for it.
Being right on the water and being able to hear it was amazing. Especially just chilling in the hot tub it was so peaceful
Amazing place! Definitely recommend!
Place was nice. When we arrived were unable to locate the remote for the tv contacted them and had one out to us with in 30 min. Place was clean and well kept
Relaxing little cottage
Nice little spot. Would recommend to friends.
hot tubbing in the rain
Absolutely beautiful, had an amazing time and lots of things to do with all the amenities. Once we arrived, we had trouble with the front door lock and codes being wrong, back door was unlocked (that’s how we got in because it was unlocked for some reason). Lights were left on and bedroom heater did not work. Overall still an amazing experience with a few hiccups.
Clean and comfortable cabin right on the river. The bedroom was cozy and the hottub was very clean. Full kitchen with cooking supplies.
Perfect if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing time close to the mountain.
Positive: Beautiful location, nice and removed from the big city. Only there for one night so we didn’t have time to use the fire pit but the spot by the little river was gorgeous. Everything inside was clean, comfortable, and cozy!
Negative: A few of the pans didn’t seem fully cleaned , but not a big deal at all. Other than that very small thing, everything was perfect.
It was a wonderful experience overall. Beautiful place and surroundings!
It had everything you needed for your stay but the photos were better than the actual place. It was small and uncomfortable. But the hot tub was great.
Negative: Water from the tap smells and tastes pretty terribly
Great stay loved the views and the peace and quiet
Great location, well kept and very comfortable.
The place was nice and I liked my stay!
Beautiful area and nice home.
Such a wonderful and cute cabin. I’d absolutely stay there again.
Peaceful cozy. Beautiful view and sound of the river. Bring water. It’s does smell. Other than that definitely worth staying. I would again
Great place, as advertised!
It’s a great spot and good place for trips

Holly was a great guest and is welcome back anytime!
Great location and loved the hot tub!
This is a very cozy cabin. A good spot for a quick getaway - the river in the backyard is very soothing to listen to. Hosts are communicative and respond well. This is one cabin of a group of cabins, which are located very close to each other, so if the neighboring cabins are occupied, it's not as private, but overall it was a good place to stay.
The place was very amazing and thei accommodated me on very short notice, which I am very grateful for !! I will rent from them again in the future for sure!!
This was a great property to stay for a couple of nights. Very relaxing and peaceful. I spent a good amount of time just sitting in the adirondack chairs down by the river listening to the sound of the water rushing by.
I would recommend it for anyone needing a couple of days to just disconnect from reality for a bit.
The smell of sulfur when running hot water was a little difficult to get used to, and it looked like the bath tub could have been a bit cleaner at the foot of the tub. Given the location, I'm not sure anything can be done about the smell of hot water.
Aside from these minor details, I was very please with my stay and again, I would recommend it for anyone needs some time away that isn't too far outside of Portland.
