Great location! Very cozy home away from home.
Positive: The kiddos loved the bunk beds and games. Having a full kitchen was super! The room was spacious and being able to close the bedroom door for sleep was great for light sleeper traveling with noisy kids. We played pool and other games in the reck room.
Negative: I definitely wish there was a blow dryer in the room! The stairs were a lot for grandma.
I had a lovely stay, the staff were excellent to communicate with, I loved the heated pool, and the place had everything we needed for our short break with the family. I would definitely return.
The host was very responsive and the home was beautiful. It was a great spot to stay with my family- my boys loved the games and the bunk beds. Everything was very clean and, as someone who is sensitive fragrances, I was greatful that there were no scented products in the house.
To sum up the 2 nights stay it was very good. Kids loved it and we enjoyed our stay.
Positive: Location was great and we liked everything. Kids had a blast.
Negative: Maybe more warm blankets for customers who dont like to use heaters. Thanks
Very peasant and would stay again
Positive: The property was in a great location, clean and very roomy for our family of 4. Although we didn’t use the kitchen for nothing other than making coffee, it seemed to be well stocked.
My young boys appreciated being able to watch Disney Plus and Netflix.
Pool was closed and never went to the rec room.
Negative: I’d say everything was great.. other than one very minor thing. My boys wanted to play with a couple of the games in the unit which were missing parts. Really no big deal.. they just decided to watch movies.
The place is great if you just need a place to crash.
We checked in at night and the parking was not clear, no other vehicles were outside. When we asked for clarification we received the guest book as a link, no clear instructions there either-while it was nice to access.
The beds are just terrible. There is zero comfort and we all felt it the next day.
The final straw was sitting on the floor in the living room playing games, which was a nice touch, 2 members of my family got bit by something. It was enough to creep us out.
My husband, 7-year-old grandson, and I stayed two nights at Thunderhead Lodge.
The condo has a ski-lodge vibe to it, feels roomy and cozy at the same time, and is well-stocked with just about everything you need.
The kitchen had ample space for preparing meals. The bathroom looked newly remodeled and was nicely decorated.
The pool water was clean, crystal clear, AND felt like bath water. When they say ‘’heated pool’’, they mean it!
The location is great; within minutes of Mount Hood/Timberline Lodge, good eateries, and the Mt Hood SkiBowl (action park).
The building is very old; some features of the building and our condo were a work in progress or needed upgrading. For example, the game room and laundry room were closed for renovations.
All in all, we had a very nice time--we took a pole and our ratings varied. My husband gave it a 3.5, I lean more towards a 4. However, our grandson gave it a two-thumbs up 5-star rating! As far as I’m concerned, that’s the one that matters most!
Not as advertised - would not stay there
This place looks great on the VRBO ads. When we arrived, they hadn’t provided us with the key code to get into the main building and because the electronic lock was broken on the condo door, they provided us with key. The key would have been fine. But once we got inside, there were only two ceiling lights and a lamp in the corner. The lamp had no bulbs. The floor heater was pulled off by me part of the wall. The tv didn’t work. And the place smelled of old cigarette smoke. My kids and I couldn’t handle the bad first impression and immediately left. Also the building rec room was closed off with construction tape. When I contacted the management company (Cascadia Getaways) to ask for a refund, they made several excuses why the things I noticed were not a problem and said that the condo didn’t smell like smoke. None of this was disclosed in the VRBO listing. We went there for a fun weekend in Government Camp and this turned out to be terrible.
Great place to stay! We were snowboarding at Mt. Hood and Timberline. It's very close and has an adorable little town in walking distance or a 30 second car ride away. Place was spacious and the laundry is free in the basement. I would recommend staying here rather than Mt Hood Village as it's farther and not as much of a town vibe. This was perfect for us and the hosts are quick to respond and very helpful. Would stay again!
Very clean!! Perfect place to stay to snowboard!
This place was great to stay for a trip up to Mt Hood. It was clean, the listing was accurate, and the management company responded to any questions or messages right away.
Great spot, super close to Mt Hood for ski or climbing access. Host team was very responsive and helpful, super proactive with reaching out. Space was clean and neat, thanks so much for a great stay!
Super cute place, responsive host, pretty view of skibowl lights at night, quick drive to the slopes, & kiddo loved the heated pool!! Great for a quick mountain getaway!!
Thunderhead Inn Condos: where cozy interiors meet a supporting role in Hot Tub Time Machine. Inside, the place was warm and inviting, the kind of spot where you can kick back after a hike—though the bed was so firm I’m pretty sure it doubled as a chiropractic adjustment table.Ventilation? Let’s just say we didn’t need a menu, because we could smell exactly what the neighbors were cooking. Lots of grease, lots of guesses. Mystery solved every night. The exterior has that retro ski lodge chic—if chic means “someone should probably repaint this.” Seriously, if John Cusack had walked by in neon ski gear, it wouldn’t have felt out of place.Location, though, was a win. Being right next to a trailhead saved us a few bucks on parking passes, and the hikes gave us peek-a-boo mountain views worthy of a postcard. Sadly, no Sasquatch sightings, but we’re pretty sure he was just hiding behind the General Store waiting for snack refills.Between the nearby food options, the General Store, and the comedy value of the building itself, we had everything we needed. Overall, we really enjoyed our “Govy” weekend stay—equal parts adventure, nostalgia, and mystery aromas.
Government Camp Retreat
We stayed at this wonderful property for three nights! Used it as a bit of a basecamp for my summit climb of Mt. Hood. Easy access to the mountain and the Timberline Lodge. Property was great; large space, clean and quiet. Perfect :)
Great place for the cost. We enjoyed the recreation room and heated pool. The host was very responsive. Thanks for a great vacation!
We stayed with our two year olds and the pool was a great temperature. The interesting carpeted platform bed in the living room was also a toddler hit. The unit overall was great. We couldn't get the TV to work and were hoping to watch the Olympics, and Cascadia Getaways could've provided better follow up to assist, as they said they were checking with their operations team but we never heard anything else. Walking distance to Mt. Hood Brewing was nice. We'd likely stay here again!
It was short stay but we had a good time.
Positive: Clean and comfortable place. Good location.
Negative: The key's lock box code didn't work; I had to call to figure out how to get into the unit. The bathroom door needs repair.
Very late check-in, 4 pm, and too early check-out, 10 am. The advertised heated Pool was not in operation.
it was a pretty place and very peaceful
Positive: Spacious apartment, comfy couch , lovely linen. Easy phone call for early check in.
Negative: No hairdryer, only 1 wine glass
Great location for what we went for. Close to eating and Mt. Hood
Easy access. Pool was great and entire place was very clean
Communication was good. Quick responses. People above us were loud and heavy walkers.
Very quick to respond when we had questions.
Horrible smell
The apartment basically smelled like a Wisconsin bar, but not a good Wisconsin bar. A mixture of old alcohol, piss, and a dead body.We actually had to make other arrangements and left after the first night
Nice place. Would stay there again.
Best place to stay in Govy!
We love the Thunderhead Lodge and have stayed in many of the rooms. We love this place. The only thing I could say negative is that the pool is no longer 102 degrees. The heater doesn’t work as well and they’ve tried to fix it but it isn’t working still. It was about 92 degrees according to the owner who’s in a law suit with the company that fixed it. So hopefully they get it back to where it was because if it’s windy outside at all during the winter, it’s unbearable to go in.
Great stay. Clean, great location, exactly as described. Thanks!
Really great and cozy place right in Government Camp! Would definitely stay again
Great location and pool!
Had a great stay! The pool was amazing! We would stay again!
I love this place. It was so lovely to have coffee and popcorn available. It was especially convenient when I first arrived and hadn't been out shopping yet. The decor is lovely and the place was very clean. I felt comfortable and safe and cared for. The responsiveness was immediate.
Thank you,
Jeanne
We had a great time! Thanks!
The condo was as expected. It was a little difficult to get inside with the door codes, but they provided very clear direction in my check-in instructions to mitigate this issue. The proximity and location are great for recreation around the area. The unit had everything we needed including plenty of towels and kitchen access. I found the main rooms bed to be very comfortable. Overall, we will definitely be back.
This condo is very conveniently located and is well equipped for a stay in the mountains. The only issue I had with my stay is the mattresses on all the beds are rock hard. Getting some pillow toppers would go a long way.
Otherwise the kitchen is well stocked with anything you would need to cook a meal, the bathroom is clean, and checkin/checkout was very easy.
Great stay, comfortable beds and easy parking!
Positive: Very homey feel. Great location!
